Abstract

Gas gangrene is an unreported fatal complication of aortic dissection and dissecting aneurysm. A patient with type 1 dissection, initially controlled by pharmacologic management, developed gas gangrene of the left gluteal area on the fourth postadmission day. This may have been due to left iliac artery occlusion.
