Abstract
Methyldopa induced galactorrhea and a Parkinson-like syndrome in a 15-year-old girl with chronic glomerulonephritis. On discontinuation of the drug, the adverse effects disappeared and did not recur. Dopamine and/or norepinephrine deficiency induced by methyldopa is proposed as a probable central mechanism for these adverse effects.
