Abstract

The bionic bioactive artificial cartilage/bone composites implants were prepared by casting bioactive hydrogels onto the cancellous bone according to the structures of nature cartilage. This new kind of cartilage implants could improve the inferior connection of the implants with host cartilage by means of bone-bone interfacial interaction. The digital speckle correlation method was used to investigate the bio-mechanical properties of the artificial cartilage/bone composites. The micro-deformation of the cancellous bone, PVA/bonecomposites and PVA-BG/composite under different compressed loads were compared, which could show the cushion action of the artificial cartilage in the range of microscale.
