Abstract

Forensic investigation of sudden cardiac death, like all other sudden, unexpected, or unnatural deaths, requires a thorough and comprehensive investigation of the circumstances surrounding the death as well as the autopsy examination. The autopsy examination may reveal traumatic injury to the heart or great vessels as well a wide spectrum of primary cardiac or vascular diseases. Synthesis of all available information is needed for determination of the cause and manner of death.
