To the Editor: Sellers et al. (May 14 issue)1 suggest an interaction between a family history of breast cancer and anthropometric factors in postmenopausal women. A genetic component of body mass has been observed not only among overweight subjects but also among thin persons.2 Since thinness is considered a risk factor for breast cancer in premenopausal women,3 and a family history of breast cancer is a strong risk factor in premenopausal women, the same interaction should be present in premenopausal women as well.
