Abstract

Although more than 80% of patients with malignant melanoma survive 5 years, many variables that stratify prognosis have been determined. Multiple clinical, histologic, morphologic, immunologic, and surgical factors have been shown to influence survival. Through the use of evolving mathematical techniques and advancements in computer technology, newer, more specific factors for determining patient prognosis in malignant melanoma are emerging.
