Abstract

An experiment to reproduce endophthalmitis phacoanaphylactica in guinea-pigs sensitized to autologous lens protein is described. Approximately half the guinea-pigs received injections of complete Freund's adjuvant. The characteristic polymorphonuclear cell infiltration found in human endophthalmitis phacoanaphylactica occurred only in those guinea-pigs receiving adjuvant.
