Abstract

Body Contouring after massive weight loss has become an established field of surgery. Obesity is now an epidemic with the number of patients electing to undergo bariatric surgery and subsequent body contouring increasing substantially. Both the patients and operations can be extremely complex requiring a systematic approach and multidisciplinary team. Despite the positive aesthetic and psychosocial outcomes, these patients are at an increased risk for complications. Meticulous patient evaluation, counseling, and risk stratification are of paramount importance. As body contouring after massive weight loss continues to evolve, the ultimate goal of minimizing complications and optimizing outcomes will remain the same.
