Abstract
This book deals particularly with the interaction of enzymes with lipid substrates. Enzymes which metabolize fatty acids, prostaglandins, neutral glycerides, glycerophosphatides and sphingolipids are studied. A section is devoted to enzymatic aspects of lipid storage disease. Topics such as new enzymes and the pathway of lipid metabolism, purification and specificity of enzymes involved in lipid metabolism, interaction of enzymes with their lipid substrate, effects of detergents, biosynthesis of lung surfactant, and effects of activators are reviewed.
