Abstract
This chapter summarizes the different modalities available for a non-surgical approach to facial skin tightening. We describe the use of radiofrequency (RF), radiofrequency with microneedling (RFMN), microfocused ultrasound with visualization (MFU-V), and synchronous ultrasound parallel beam (SUPERB) technology. Each technology’s indications and device-specific techniques are explained in detail. Outcomes expected with each technology are also described and illustrated with clear examples of the improvement that can be achieved with non-surgical skin tightening. Noninvasive and minimally invasive energy-based devices are medical instruments with safety measures, associated risks, and potential complications outlined below. We also expand on other considerations, such as combination treatments, patient selection, and patient experience. Non-surgical modalities often complement and aid the surgeon in providing comprehensive care and solutions that align with patient goals. This chapter aims to provide an expert overview of this ever-evolving area of aesthetic medicine.
