Endometriosis: On uterus, adnexa, bowel, peritoneum, hematoperitoneum

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterpeer-review

Abstract

Endometriosis is surgically staged traditionally with the American Society for Reproductive Medicine's (ASRM) Revised Staging System [1]. This is a standardized way to describe findings that describe endometriosis with extent of tissue involvement and descriptions that include color changes, as well as peritoneal defects that are suggestive of endometriosis. A new surgical classification system that is meant to also account for surgical complexity is the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists' Endometriosis Staging Application [2]. A summary of this method is included in Tables 6.1 and 6.2.
