Abstract
Distinct clinical entities have emerged with specific etiologic agents more closely associated with better known clinical infection. Among the former are serious and destructive eye infections with Bacillus cereus, fusospirochetal superinfection of oral lesions in patients with AIDS, and genital infections caused by Capnocytophaga, and Neisseria meningitidis, to name a few. Admixed in this presentation will be unusual infections/concepts associated with antibiotic resistant bacterial species such as Streptococcus pneumoniae and Enterococcus species.
