Abstract

Most patients can tolerate a postoperative rise in IOP with no effect on visual outcome. However, such a rise may be catastrophic to the glaucoma patient with advanced visual field loss and to patients predisposed to AION. Proper management of such patients should include prophylactic treatment and aggressive postoperative monitoring and treatment of the IOP.
