Elevated Epstein Barr antibodies in an infant with hepatitis

A 10-wk-old infant presented with asymptomatic hepatitis accompanied by lymphocytosis, a positive 'mono spot' test and persistent elevation of Epstein-Barr virus antibody titers. This appears to have been a case of infectious mononucleosis acquired during or soon after birth.
