Effect of topically applied forskolin on aqueous humor dynamics in cynomoglus monkey

Abstract

Topical administration of a 1% forskolin suspension significantly reduced intraocular pressure in cynomogus monkey eyes. The fall in intraocular pressure was associated with a significant (P < 0.01) decrease in aqueous humor flow measured by a fluorophotometric technique. No significant change was found in tonographic outflow facility or pupillary diameter. A loss of effect on intraocular pressure to subsequent doses of 1% forskokin suspension occurred in cynomolgus monkeys by the third day of twice-a-day treatment.
