Abstract

In the present paper, influence of various processing parameters on the magnetic properties of strontium ferrite sintered permanent magnets has been studied. Taguchi L-9 orthogonal array design is used for analyzing the effect of Fe2O3/SrO mole ratio, milling time, calcination temperature and sintering temperature on the magnetic properties. The individual effect of each parameter on the magnetic properties in correlation with microstructure and phase formation is discussed. It is found that Taguchi design is adequate to understand the effect of processing parameter in the limited number of experiments.
