Abstract

The effect of groove on expressions for the critical stress intensity factor [Kc] and critical strain energy release rate [Cc] for mode I fracture were determined. Using experimental results from grooved and ungrooved compact tension bovine specimens. It was found that Kc is affected by grooving but Gc is not.
