Abstract
Cryptococcus neoformans is an opportunistic pathogen in immunocompromised patients. Appendicitis as the initial manifestation of cryptococcus infection is unreported in the literature. This case further illustrates the diagnostic challenge of histopathology to identify a common fungal pathogen in an atypical location.
