Abstract
Differences of sex development (DSD) is a group of congenital conditions of the urogenital and reproductive tracts. In patients with DSDs, there is atypical development of the internal and/or external genitalia. The evaluation of an individual with DSDs is multifaceted and includes careful consideration of the medical, surgical, and psychosocial needs of the patient and family. The historical approach to treatment has shifted to a patient-centered model, and care is optimally provided in a multidisciplinary approach with a focus on fostering patient well-being. Here we discuss the core clinical concepts and highlight a subset of specific DSD diagnoses.
