Abstract

Diabetes causes a prothrombotic critical condition. This review refers to the mechanisms by which diabetes causes more aggressive arterial disease, exacerbation of endothelial dysfunction, a pro-inflammatory pro-thrombotic state and persistent platelet hyperreactivity, thereby increasing the thrombotic burden of diabetic patients.
