Abstract

A new braking system model was built from a study on the solution method of the friction brake torque under the conditions of braking to near zero speed and braking lock. According to the motion state between the brake disc and the brake pliers (for the disc type brake) or the brake drum and the brake shoes (for the drum type brake), a solution algorithm of the brake torque under the static and dynamic friction states was proposed based on the slip-stick friction theory. A brake system model subroutine was developed and embedded in ADAMS. The simulation results show that this model can simulate the vehicle braking and parking conditions on the horizontal road and the ramp more accurately than that of original ADAMS, the suggested approach is of value for the vehicle dynamic simulation.
