The long-term feeding problems associated with premature infants must be recognized and managed if outcomes are to be optimized. However, there is no clinical assessment tool currently available to understand preterm infants' feeding behaviors from the perspective of parents/caregivers. In this study, a behavior-based feeding questionnaire was developed for this purpose. This feeding questionnaire demonstrates good face and content validity. It is our hope that clinicians will be able to utilize this questionnaire to systematically obtain feeding-related information from primary caregivers. Future investigations will be focused on establishing this questionnaire as an outcome measure for comparison studies.
