Abstract
Dactinomycin (DACT, Actinomycin D, Cosmogen, NSC-3053) is an antineoplastic antibitotic, used in the treatment of testicular cancer, gestational choriocarcinoma, and Wilm's tumor. DACT consists of two identical cyclic pentapeptide esters (-L-threonine-D-valine-L-proline-sarcosine-L-methylvaline-O-) linked by the amino group of the threonine to carboxyl groups at the 1 and 9 positions of a phenoxazone ring system. Using desorption chemical ionization (DCI), with ammonia as the reagent gas and fast atom bombardment (FAB), with argon as the bombarding species, authors have obtained spectra which contains the molecular ion of DACT.
