Abstract
We measure, using a lattice gas algorithm, the time development of a wake behind a cylinder at Reynolds numbers equal to 30 and 60. We measure also drag at these values and determine Re≅90 to be the Reynolds number where vortex shedding starts. Agreement with experimental results is good. We also measure vortex shedding frequency at Re = 108 from transverse velocity and at Re = 180 from lift on the cylinder. The corresponding Strouhal numbers are obtained and discussed.
