Abstract
The occurrence of a side branch occlusion following percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) is a relatively uncommon event. Side branches that are intimately involved in the lesion to be dilated are at highest risk of occlusion are often well tolerated. Occlusion of side branches not directly involved in the lesion is rare.
