Cutaneous drug hypersensitivity: Clinical features, mechanism, diagnosis, and management in children and adolescent

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterpeer-review

Abstract

In children exanthemas are very common; the suspicion of drug-induced manifestations is the third most common cause of referral. Contributing factors are HLA associations and viral infections. Common elicitors include antibiotics and NSAIDs. Diagnostic work-up may include skin and in vitro tests. In mild reactions a direct drug provocation test may be feasible.
