Abstract
Polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (PVT), a life-threatening arrhythmia, is most often seen in patients with abnormal repolarization due to drugs, electolyte imbalance, or bradycardia, or in individuals with congenital long QT syndrome. For PVT due to acquired long QT syndrome, management consists of eliminating the cause, pacing, and administering isoproterenol or magnesium sulfate. Congenital long QT syndrome is treated with β-blocking drugs, left stellate ganglionectomy, or pacing.
