N1 - Funding Information: The Seventh International Symposium on Basement Membranes was held at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) on June 29 to 30, 1995. It was sponsored by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) and was cosponsored by the National Cancer Institute, National Institute on Aging, National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases, and the National Institute on Dental Research. There were seven sessions: Structure and Function of Basement Membrane Components, chaired by Billy Hudson and Aris-tides Charonis; Gene Expression and Regulation of Basement Membrane Turnover, chaired by Karl Tryggvason and George Martin; Organ Development and Differentiation, chaired by Hynda Kleinman; Genetics of Renal Disease, chaired by Gregory Germino; Basement Membrane-Related Diseases, chaired by David Beier; Gene Therapy in Human and Animal Diseases, chaired by William Stetler-Stevenson; and New Molecules, chaired by Bjom Olsen. There were more than 200 participants, including many renal researchers. Travel awards were made available to nearly 50 young investigators, who submitted poster abstracts and defended their data from the podium in an evening session. A limited number of softbound copies of the meeting proceedings, which include manuscripts from the invited speakers in the seven sessions and the poster abstracts, have been published and are available from Computer&& Corporation, 6707 Democracy Blvd, Suite 101, Bethesda, MD 20817. A brief summary of the individual sessions will be published in a forthcoming issue of Extracellular Matrix.
