Abstract

Results of total urinary estrogen and HPL determinations in the third trimester were compared in 290 complicated pregnancies. According to the hormonal concentrations, three groups could be differentiated: GI, GII, and GIII. In the group in which normal urinary estrogen and low HPL concentrations were obtained (GIII), retrospectively it was found that 50% of the pregnant women were obese with a weight over 160 lb at the onset of pregnancy.
