Abstract

BACKGROUND: Fluorescence molecular tomography (FMT) has become a fast developing molecular imaging technique. Noise is a challenge for FMT, and the influence of noise on molecular imaging remains unclear. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the influence of noise on imaging reconstruction based on the adaptive-mesh-based algorithm using an analytical solution. METHODS: In this paper, the influence of noise on FMT was studied based on the adaptive-mesh-based algorithm using an analytical solution. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: By adding noise to the simulated data, the reconstruction results with different signal-to-noise ratio are obtained and discussed. The experiment results show that the adaptive-mesh-based algorithm is robust in the existence of noise.
