N2 - Ever since the adoption of the MELD score for liver allocation in July 2005 in Argentina, there have been no further modifications in liver procurement and allocation policies. Due to the recent innovations in different liver transplant-related areas, the Argentinean Transplant Society sponsored the First Argentinean Consensus on Liver Transplantation. The Consensus was integrated by six different working groups of hepatologists, transplant surgeons, infectious disease specialists, radiologists, biochemistry specialists and experts from the National Procurement and Transplantation Office (INCUCAI) who dealt with the problematic of liver donor selection, donor transmitted bacterial infection, MELD exceptions (ascites and encephalopathy), novel imaging diagnostic criteria for hepatocellular carcinoma and MELD reproducibility. Consensus final statements have been submitted to the National Procurement and Transplantation Office for consideration and modification of current regulations.
