Abstract

Urological complications of acute appendicitis have been reported previously. Richie and associates reported on 3 adults who presented with perforated, acute appendicitis with upper urinary tract obstruction on the right side. Cook reported a series of 93 cases of appendiceal abscesses in patients between 1 and 14 years old. The excretory urograms (IVPs) in 14 of the patients revealed dilatation of the right upper ureter and hydronephrosis. No patient was of early neonatal age. Herein we report on a neonate with intestinal obstruction in whom a right flank mass became readily palpable after decompression.
