Abstract

To the Editor: At Tokyo Ogikubo Hemophilia Center, we have offered home-infusion therapy for the past seven years¹ and comprehensive care for the past two.² Of 200 registered patients with hemophilia, 80 now receive home-infusion therapy. Our recent socioeconomic study on the benefits of home-infusion therapy, conducted in 42 patients, revealed that this therapy was clearly effective in decreasing the number of days off from school or work to 1/10 of those before the therapy. Emotional and psychological improvements in the patients and their families were also apparent. The total amounts of factor VIII concentrates received in a year increased.
