Abstract

Principles of intensive observation of the foetus state in the process of labour are formulated. Necessity of monitor-type observation of the foetus state in all parturients is emphasized. This observation is to be carried out in a definite sequence, i.e. cardiac function monitoring, examination of the acid-alkali balance of the foetus capillary blood and the amniotic fluid. If the results show a deviation from the norm the new method developed by the clinic should be used for specifying the abnormality. This is intraovoscopy which consists in direct examination of the foetus, the placenta, and the amniotic fluid. The practical use of the efficient system of diagnosing and treating the foetus' hypoxic states at maternity hospitals has made it possible to reduce perinatal mortality in 1978 by 50%.
