Abstract

South Turgay basin is Mesozoic fault-depression basin, the Cretaceous oil/gas exploration & development has entered the late, but Mid-Later Jurassic oil/gas exploration has been drawn more attention to. The fault interpretation is the first task in the structural interpretation of the area. The paper adopted post-stack processing techniques, map analytic techniques and visualization technique to carry out interpretation and description for the complex fault system in the region. The idea of study is first to observe the fault change on slices in time domain of 3D data volume; then, to use visualization technique to interpret large-scale faults; and finally, to check the reasonableness of fault system straightforwardly in 3D view.
