Abstract

Videostroboscopic examination of the larynx is a valuable tool for endoscopic assessment of the vibratory capacity of the vocal folds. This tool is now easily applied for assessment of vocal production in health and disease. The vibratory capabilities of the normal vocal folds are quite variable depending on gender, amplitude, and frequency. To avoid the common pitfalls in interpretation, the laryngologist must know what is within normal range and systematically rate the vibratory behavior of each vocal fold.
