Abstract
Potassium ferrate was prepared from chlorine, potassium hydroxide and ferric nitrate by chemical oxidation. The effects of reagent concentration, reaction temperature, and etc. on yield of potassium ferrate were studied. The optimal conditions were as follows: oxidation under 20°C for 30 min with Fe(III) dosage of 90% stoichiometric amount; precipitation under 15 ∼ 20°C for 30 min. The final product was rinsed and refined with normal pentane, ethanol and ether successively under - 5°C.
