Abstract

Power system relay protection model is widely used in EMS/DTS. A CIM extension of relay protection is proposed in this paper. Firstly, different protection types are enumerated and analyzed. Then, an information model to describe protection relay is presented, which is an extension of CIM. The XML text file is also proposed to define this model. The protection simulation methods to accommodate the proposed model are introduced in the last part of paper. All the model and the method proposed in this paper are used in a real DTS project in Sichuan province.
