Cerebral herniation syndrome as the presenting sign of haemophilus influenza meningitis

Abstract

A child who presented with cerebral herniation syndrome which was subsequently found to be a complication of bacterial meningitis is reported. The approach to the initial emergency department management of such a patient is discussed, as is the literature which summarizes the unusual complication.
