Abstract

Isolated fractions enriched in bovine cortical astroglial cells or nerve endings were used to determine the receptor site for [3H]-diazepam binding. The results suggest strong enrichment in glial cells for the benzodiazepine receptor. Both the inhibition of diazepam binding by other benzodiazepines and the affinity of the glial receptor for diazepam suggest that this receptor is similar to that previously reported in crude CNS membrane fractions.
