Abstract

Performing cataract surgery in an eye with a preexisting trabeculectomy bleb raises unique challenges for the ophthalmic surgeon. Addressing the spectrum of bleb morphologies and the anatomic setting in which the cataract exists requires careful attention to detail and an array of surgical skills. Successful preoperative planning, intraoperative execution, and postoperative care can optimize the functional outcome of the bleb and the short- and long-term visual outcome for the patient.
