Abstract

We review new findings on the development of glaucoma following pediatric cataract surgery. Other recent findings, concerning inherited syndromes exhibiting cataract and glaucoma, the pseudoexfoliation syndrome, Fuchs' heterochromic iridocyclitis, and lens-induced glaucoma, are commented on. We discuss works on intraocular pressure elevations and secondary glaucoma following routine cataract surgery and neodymium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet laser capsulotomy. The past year's studies of combined cataract and glaucoma filtering surgery are also reviewed, including small-incision technique results using foldable implants (phacotrabeculotomy) and preliminary results of using 5-fluorouracil as an adjunct to the combined procedure.
