Abstract

To the Editor: Dr. Garnick quite rightly points out (May 31 issue) that an excellent although nonspecific way of following a patient with metastatic seminoma is to monitor the level of lactic dehydrogenase (LDH). I would like to point out, however, that an elevated level of LDH in Case 22–1984 could have been misleading indeed, since active malignant lymphoma may also cause elevation of LDH, and that diagnosis was strongly considered in the differential diagnosis.
