Abstract

Aim: This scoping review aims to summarize recent literature exploring the associations between caregiving and resident, formal and informal caregiver health in long-term care before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Findings: Based on the thematic analysis of 20 records out of 252 identified records, we summarized themes of biological, psychological, and social health among care givers, care workers and residents. Message: This review finds that the long-term care sector needs significant improvements in infrastructure and resources to better support caregiving, thereby enhancing the emotional, psychological, and social health of residents, formal and informal caregivers, particularly during and after crisis situations like the COVID-19 pandemic.
