Abstract
Electron microscopy has been used after death to document Whipple bacillus in the myocardial tissue of two patients without clinical cardiac involvement who died of untreated Whipple disease. This report describes a patient with atypical Whipple disease and predominant cardiac involvement in whom electron microscopy showed Whipple bacillus in myocardial tissue while the patient was alive.
