Abstract

Yeast infections, primarily from Candida species, account for most of the morbidity and mortality from infectious diseases in neutropenic cancer patients. Changes in cancer treatment and prophylaxis account for this increase. Improvements in antifungal treatment have begun to reduce the risks from candidal infections.
