Abstract
The rhythm of light and dark is thought to be the most important external synchronizer for humans. It is scientifically accepted that the application of light to the eyes can shift the biological clock, thus for example, to delay or advance the natural cycle of waking and sleeping. A recent study found that extraocular light exposure could also shift, or reset, the biological clock. Based on that finding, the present author suggests that acupuncture points may be involved in the mechanism of extraocular circadian phototransduction.
