Abstract

Four permanent lymphoid cell lines designated as MOLT #1, 2, 3, and 4 were established from the peripheral blood of a patient with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. The cells resembled relatively mature lymphocytes. Neither immunoglobulins nor Epstein-Barr virus was detectable. No receptors for immunoglobulin or complement were present, but the cells bound with red blood cells of sheep, pig, goat, and horse to form rosettes. These cell lines probably represent a subpopulation of human lymphocytes related to thymus-derived lymphocytes.J Natl Cancer Inst.
