A review of the incidence of biliary tract cancer at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City over the past forty years has revealed an apparent increase of cardiac anomalies among these cases as compared to the overall autopsy population. Therefore it has been suggested that an association may exist between these two conditions. However the conclusions drawn from this study must be viewed as tentative considering the limited scope of the investigation. Further research is necessary in order to more closely associate the incidence of cardiac anomalies with bile duct cancer.
