Bilateral testicular epidermoid cyst (report of two case and literatures review)

Abstract

Objective To summarize the clinical features and treatment experiences of bilateral testicular epidermoid cyst for improving it's diagnosis and treatment. Methods Clinical data of two patients with bilateral testicular epidermoid cysts was respectively analyzed and the related literatures were reviewed. Results One of two youth the bilateral testicular cyst patients, who was diagnosed as bilateral epidermoid cyst by intraoperative frozen prompt histological analysis, underwent testicular partial nephrectomy; The other patient, diagnosed as the left testicular teratoma complicating epidermoid cyst and the right testis epidermoid cyst by intraoperative frozen prompt histological analysis, received the left testis radical resection and right testis partial nephrectomy. The postoperative pathological and intraoperative frozen results of two patients were consistency. No recurrence was found during 3 to 24 months following-up. Conclusion Testicular epidermoid cyst of the testis, especially bilateral testicular epidermoid cyst, is a rare benign tumor. Detailed physical and imaging features of this disease are important evidence for initial diagnosis. The final dignosis of it was confirmed by frozen pathological analysis. The recommended surgical approach for it was testis-sparing surgery.
